FAQ

What is involved for pilot project participants?

Pilot project participants will record their bin weights starting out and continue while trying to cut waste, recording how your own waste changes over the coming months.

How do I get my bin weights?

The easiest way to do this is to contact your waste management company and request your monthly bin weights for each of your bins – normal, recycled and food waste, backdated to January 2017 onwards.

Where do I record these weights?

You will input these weights into this website, on a monthly basis and we will keep this information strictly confidential.

What will this information be used for?

This information will be used to overall reports for Cobh as a whole to prove how effective our community waste reduction programme can be.

By recording what can be done by volunteer households, we will be able to use this information to encourage more people to help make Cobh one of Ireland’s first zero waste towns. By doing so, we will be playing our part in the move to sustainable living and a green, dynamic, prosperous economy, whilst helping to reduce global warming.

How long will the plan run for?

With your help, we plan to conclude our pilot stage and launch Stage II of our project this September at a public launch event. We look forward to hearing from you!
